PURPOSE and SCOPE

Reporting to the Manager, eCommerce Solutions, the Application Developer is part of a dynamic team responsible for maintaining MacDon’s business and ecommerce systems.  As an Application Developer, you will work closely with business stakeholders to develop new technology solutions, integrations, and custom applications to support business needs.  This is a full-stack developer position that will work with both front-end and back-end software technologies.

QUALIFICATIONS

A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
Minimum 2-years’ experience in Java development.
Experience performing full-stack web development is an asset.
Experience working with Liferay Enterprise Portal is an asset
Experience in web service development is an asset.
Experience in web application development is an asset.
Experience using any of the following development tools is an asset: Eclipse, JDeveloper, SQL Developer, Apache Subversion (SVN), Jenkins, and/or Apache Maven.
Experience working with any of the following application servers is an asset:  GlassFish, Payara, and/or Apache Tomcat.
Experience working with any of the following frameworks is an asset:  Vaadin and/or Spring Security.
Experience in mobile application development is an asset.

Skills and Knowledge

Knowledge of any of the following programming or scripting languages is an asset:  JavaScript, C, HTML, XML, SQL, JSP, and/or PERL.
Knowledge of J.D. Edwards ERP software is an asset. .
Knowledge of Agile Development Methodology is an asset.

Strong logical and analytical thinker; attention to detail.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Well organized; ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

Work with business stakeholders to define and understand business needs.
Develop enhancements for web-based customer portal and interface with back-end ERP system using web-services.
Application development and maintenance of in-house ERP system and other supporting systems.
Maintain comprehensive suite of unit tests.
Troubleshoot and resolve bugs with software applications.
Create and maintain technical documentation.
Work with technical infrastructure and operations teams to define database, network and hardware requirements to support new applications.
Document release plans and coordinate deployment of new software features through various environments.
