Qualifications

Three years’ experience in manufacturing industry.
CITT accreditation.
C-TPAT and PIP experience preferred.
Proven work experience of Customs and Traffic for Canada-US and international freight movements.
Experience drafting and executing freight tenders.
Microsoft Office, especially MS Excel.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Good organizational, problem solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

PURPOSE and SCOPE:

The Customs and Traffic Team Leader will ensure freight and customs brokerage activities are performed effectively and efficiently to support the business needs.  Ensure effective collaboration with Purchasing, Outsourcing, other internal customers and external service providers.

Your responsibilities include management of on-site and inbound freight movements. Ensure all aspects of freight and brokerage are compliant to Customs and Trade Regulations and maintained in good standing.  Ensure competitive carrier rates through regular tendering process and developing and maintaining strong relationships with Suppliers and Carriers and internal customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Foster a team environment, motivate and mentor team members with an open communication culture.
Efficiently route/manage all on site and all inbound freight movements.
Manage pertinent data and maintain an accurate inbound schedule.
Audit all freight charges and invoices with regard to carrier rate quotation files, duty and tariffs.
Respond and follow up on brokerage issues and carrier inquiries.
Ensure all aspects of import and export documentation, compliance, maintenance and audits to meet Government trade regulations are met.
Monitor carrier performance and perform quarterly & annual reviews.
Review, maintain and pursue NAFTA documentation.
Create brokerage and freight RFQs and administer tenders.
Other duties as assigned by the Logistics Manager.
