PURPOSE and SCOPE:

The Senior Manager of Facilities and Maintenance reports to the Director of Operations Services. This position is responsible for Security, Facility Engineering, Contractor Management, and the overall performance and execution of the Maintenance team. This role is instrumental in overseeing the development, continuous improvement, and sustainability of our facilities, security measures, and maintenance across the organization.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the development of building criteria and guidelines for new construction, restoration, and modernization of owned and leased building portfolios.
  • Develop and monitor organizational performance through relevant metrics, data analytics, and key performance indicators.
  • Manage and continuously improve the security of their Winnipeg facilities.
  • Plan, schedule, and manage facilities service and maintenance external contractors and personnel.
  • Own and manage the Maintenance Request system to support facility users, including customer service relationship management.
  • Lead a team of highly skilled trades, facilities engineers, and management to address emerging issues.
  • Be involved in hiring, mentorship, development, and resource management for all functions within the department.
  • Perform periodic performance reviews of direct reports.
  • Manage capital and expense department budgets.
  • Plan and execute all scheduled preventive maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, hazardous waste disposal, workplace safety and health legislation, hazardous materials, etc.
  • Support and participate in the Ci process, striving for ongoing process enhancements.
  • Promote a workplace culture that creates opportunities, serves others, builds trust, fosters innovation, and exceeds expectations.
  • Approve expenses, including cost/benefit analysis and return on investment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience

  • Registered Professional Engineer (P. Eng) through EGM preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience leading skilled teams and/or complex projects.
  • Relevant university degree or diploma in industrial, process, or mechanical engineering.
  • Proficiency in Facilities Engineering Design involving production equipment and major building systems.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong quantitative, numeric, analytical, project management, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience supporting production technology advancement in a manufacturing facility.
  • Exceptional planning, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Track record in implementing best practices and launching new systems.
